Merideth: If you're looking for one of the most affordable side exit exhaust systems to up the sound and performance of your 2016 or newer 3.5-liter Toyota Tacoma, this RedRock Stainless Steel Single Side Exit Exhaust System with the Polished Tip will be a good choice to check out. Now, right off the bat when talking about sound, this will be a three out of five on the loudness meter, with one being completely stock and five being wake-the-neighbors loud. Now, this will offer a decent volume increase, but this will mostly deepen the tone of the exhaust, creating some better presence to your truck while maintaining a comfortable cab environment with minimal drone. Now, with sound comes performance and this will offer some minor gains to help out with your throttle response as well if you're currently struggling with that. Now, this side exit and polished tip will also offer a classic look if you're looking to keep it more on the simple side and you're not necessarily a fan of a black system. Now, this will be made of 3-inch diameter mandrel-bent 409 stainless steel, offering smooth and direct airflow as well as great rust resistance. Now, the muffler that's responsible for most of the sound and performance here will have a straight-through style design as well. Again, you're also getting that polished tip on the back that will exit right after the passenger rear tire for a timeless look. This will also be a completely direct bolt-on application and come with everything that you need, making this a straightforward install. Getting into price, again, this will be one of your most affordable choices at roughly $300. Now, what I like about this is that you're getting a good setup for the price with the rust resistance 409, you're getting good sound with the straight-through style muffler, and a decent size tip, making this a system that you won't have to compromise much for. Now, others available on the page may just be set up a little bit differently. They may have 304 stainless or aluminas instead of this 409, they may have a turndown style or dual exit configuration or even a black tailpipe or tip instead of this polished look. Now, overall, I think if you're looking for a good-sounding and good-looking exhaust that's gonna have some quality materials at an affordable price, then this is gonna be it. Now, install will be a two out of three ranches on the difficulty meter, taking you about three hours to get the job done. But I wouldn't be surprised if you got it done a little bit sooner with some basic hand tools; however, that is going to wrap up my review. Let's go ahead and head over to the shop to show you a detailed breakdown of the install right now.Man: Tools required for this install include an impact gun, a can of penetrating lubricant, an exhaust hanger removal tool, a marker, a tape measure, 14-millimeter and 17-millimeter sockets, as well as pole jacks or jack stands, and a saw. What's up, guys? Today I'm gonna be showing you how to install an exhaust on our Tacoma. So, let's get started. So, our first step is gonna be to disconnect our hanger on our tailpipe as well as our frontmost hanger behind the flange. We're gonna leave the two hangers connected behind the muffler until we disconnect our flange and we're ready to fully remove our exhaust. So, I've gone ahead and sprayed our hanger down with some penetrating lubricant just to make it a little bit easier to slide off. And then I'm gonna get in there with an exhaust hanger remover tool to slide this out.So, now coming to the front side of our muffler, right behind our flange, we can remove our second hanger. I'm gonna go ahead and do the same thing, spray it down with some penetrating lubricant, and then we can pop that out. So, now with our two hangers removed, we can attack our flange. So, these are gonna be two 14-millimeter bolts, so I'll get a 14-millimeter socket on an impact gun and get these off. So, now with our flange unbolted, we can hit our last two hangers that are right behind the muffler. So, I'll get in there with our exhaust hanger remover tool. So, now I've thrown a pole jack underneath our muffler just to hold the exhaust into place while we remove our last exhaust hanger. Then once again, I'll get behind that with our exhaust remover tool and pop that out. So, now we can start to slowly lower our pole jack and move the exhaust out towards the front of the truck. So, now for our cut, we're gonna have to cut 14 and a quarter inches off of our non-flange side. So, grab yourself a tape measure and Sharpie. So, now we can make our mark at 14 and a quarter inches, and then I'll meet you over at the saw to make our cut. So, now that we're over at the saw, I've got our pipe all lined up and clamped into position, and then we can bring it down to make our cut. So, now with our cut made, we can go ahead and debar our edges. So I'm gonna get on our grinder here and clean up our edge. So, now with our edges cleaned up, we're ready to get this installed on the truck. So, now that we have our pipe cut and cleaned up, we can go ahead and mount it up onto our existing pipe. We're gonna be reusing our factory 14-millimeter bolts to tighten it down. And now we can grab our 14-millimeter socket on an impact gun and tighten these down. So, now we can slide our muffler over our front pipe and connect our hanger. So, now we can slide our clamp into position, and then we'll take a 17-millimeter socket on an impact gun to tighten that down. Now we can take another one of our clamps and slide it over the edge of our muffler. So, now once we have our muffler clamp in place, we can start from the back of the truck and fish our over-axle pipe over our axle into our muffler, and then into our hangers. And now we can slide our muffler clamp into place, and then we'll take a 17-millimeter socket to tighten this down. So, this hanger on our exhaust pipe is a lot longer than our hanger up here. So, I'm gonna pop our rubber hanger off, slide it over our exhaust pipe, and then back over our two black posts. Now we can slide our bottom edge over our pipe, lift up on our pipe. So, if you're having trouble getting the hanger to slide over our two black posts, you can get in there with some penetrating lubricant. And then that'll make it easier for us to slide this on.Now, for our last step, we can grab our last clamp, slide it over the edge of our tip, and then we can get that installed on our tailpipe. Now, you can adjust this to however you'd like. You can push it way back far for a cleaner look or you can bring it out to have a little bit of poke. That's what I like. So, we're gonna leave it right there. And then we'll take a 17-millimeter socket to tighten down our tip.So, that'll wrap up this review and install of the RedRock Stainless Steel Single Exhaust System with the Polished Tip and Side Exit for your 2016 to current 3.5-liter Tacoma. Thank you for watching. And remember, for all things Tacoma, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
