Merideth: If you're looking for some more heavy-duty or off-road appeal for the front end of your 2016 or newer Tacoma, this Barricade HD Stubby Front Bumper with the 20-inch Single Row LED Light Bar will be a great addition to your build. Now, this front bumper by Barricade will be for the Tacoma owner who's looking for some solid front end protection on top of their factory front bumper at a pretty affordable price point. This is also gonna be a great pick if you don't want to completely eliminate your factory front bumper, but you still need that added protection for everyday daily driving or off-road driving if you're taking your Tacoma out on the trail. Now, the integrated light bar will also be great if you need the addition of some better visibility for dark back roads and trails at night and you want an all-inclusive kit to do so.Now, this will feature a boxy and robust build for a smaller stubby front bumper with mesh paneling over on the sides to offer some aggressive appeal to the front end of your Tacoma. Now, this will also integrate a bull bar up top for looks and, of course, lower grille protection while integrating light bar mounts for that 20-inch LED light bar with that sleek single-row build. Now, speaking of the lighting, this bar will also have a spot and a flood beam pattern to offer length and width to the beam for the best visibility and a bright 6,500K color temperature for a very modern appearance. Now, not to mention, you are getting some recovery with this as well with a bolt-in winch plate capable of housing a winch with up to a 12,000-pound pulley capacity. And you're also gonna have two welded D-rings on the front for those just-in-case moments, again, if you're taking your truck out on the trail. Now, this will be durable and able to take a hit that will save the front end when it comes to any front end obstacles on or off-road made of a strong steel construction. Now, on top, of course, you're also getting that black powder coat finish that's gonna protect the steel and the fact that it is more of a fine-textured black powder coat is really going to assist in that premium and more off-road appearance. Now, the light bar will also be very durable with a polycarbonate lens on the front, which is impact-resistant while offering full transparency, a die-cast aluminum housing for a tough build, and it's also going to be IP67 dust and waterproof-rated, so you won't have to worry about the light bar being mounted up on the front when it comes to dust on the trail, water when it's raining, or just big puddles in general. Now, in addition to everything that you see here, you're also going to get a front plate mount that's going to attach to the fairlead. So this is going to be inclusive no matter where you live. And what I think I like about this most is the fact that this isn't going to require any modification to get this onto your truck even though you are putting this over your front bumper, so you can keep it some peace of mind there. When it comes to pricing, this will sit at roughly $700, which is on par for a fully loaded front bumper. Now, when comparing this to other choices, this is going to give you the basics of a heavy-duty front bumper in the look, the function, the recovery, and, of course, that off-road lighting as far as the accessories is concerned. So it is going to be very inclusive for the price. Not to mention, you don't have to do any modification, especially to your fenders if you're not looking to do that, and it's going to complement the factory one with the more off-road or stubby appeal. So I think if you're in search of a front bumper that's going to offer you that while complementing your factory setup, then this is going to be the one for you. When it comes to install, this is going to be a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter taking you about two hours to get the job done with some basic hand tools. And again, no modification or drilling is required with this one. At this point, we can head over to the shop and check out a detailed breakdown of the install and what it looks like step by step. So that's going to wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into it.Man: The tools you're going to need for this install include a 3/8 impact, electric ratchet, plastic pry tool, a clip tool, 17-millimeter, a 13-millimeter wrench, 12-millimeter ratcheting wrench, included Allen keys in the kit, an 18-millimeter, 17-millimeter, 14-millimeter, 13-millimeter, 12-millimeter, 10-millimeter sockets, 3/8 extension, 13-millimeter shallow socket, and wire cutters. What's up, guys? Today we're going to be installing a front bumper on our Tacoma. But before we get started, you're going to watch a short video on how to uninstall your stock components, and I'll meet you back here for the install.Merideth: So the first step to our install is to take off our grille. You're going to need a 10-millimeter socket for this, and you're also going to need a trim removal tool. So we're going to take out the bolts first. There are two up at the top. I'm going to use that 10-millimeter socket to remove those. And then we can remove the clips on either side. So over on this side, on either side of the grille, we're going to just have a pop clip. What I'm going to do is just take the trim removal tool and pop that out of place. And we can do the same thing for the other side.So at this point, now that the hardware is out of our grille, we can just go ahead and remove it by pulling forward. And then what we can do next is start to disassemble our bumper. Our next step is to take off our lower splash shield. Now, on either side, there's going to be two bolts behind this splash shield. I'm going to be removing those with a 10-millimeter socket, and then the remaining bolts are going to be on the front side of the splash shield. This may be a little bit difficult to see. However, I'm going to use a 10-millimeter socket and a small extension just to give myself some room to work with.So before you remove the front bolts, I would just repeat that process with the bolts that are behind the splash shield on the other side. And then we can take that same 10-millimeter socket and remove the bolts on the front. So once all the bolts are removed, we can remove the lower splash shield. So our next step is to remove the first two bolts on the inside of our wheel well here. We're missing one down at the bottom here, as you can see, but we still need to remove this one up at the top. This is going to allow us to pull our fender back so we can unclip our bumper on either side. So I'm going to take a 10-millimeter socket and remove this bolt up at the top. You should also use a 10-millimeter socket for this one down at the bottom. Once that's removed, what we can do is start to peel the fender away from the bumper. It's going to be held in by clips as well as adhesive. Now, if you are taking this off for the first time, it may be a little bit more difficult just to pull the fender away with the adhesive being there. But you can take a soft pry tool and you can just pry away from the bumper. If you need to, what you can do is just use that pry tool to unclip the bumper. As you can see, it's disconnected there. So then we can repeat that on the other side and then we can unclip the middle part of our bumper. So now that we disconnected our fender, there's a little bit of hardware underneath that's connecting our front bumper cover to the crash bar as well as to our wheel well. Now, there's a pop clip in the corner that we're going to disconnect using a trim removal tool.Next, we can remove that bolt that's holding the bumper cover to our crash bar with that same 10-millimeter socket that we used before. Then we can repeat that on the other side and then unclip our bumper at the front. So before we remove the clips that are holding on the front of our bumper, we do need to disconnect this wiring harness here. We just have to press down on that tab and pull back. Just wanna make sure that we're protecting all of our wiring harnesses before we pull the bumper away from the truck itself. Then we can grab a trim removal tool and start removing our clips. So next, I'm gonna take that trim removal tool just like the one that we used on our grille and we're just gonna take off these clips that are holding on the front of our bumper cover. So now that all of our clips are fully removed at the front, what we can do is remove our front bumper cover. So our next step is to take off our crash bar here. We're gonna have three studs and we're gonna take that hardware off with a 14-millimeter socket. I'm also using my electric ratchet. Then we can take off the three on the other side and then pull off our crash bar. So we can remove our crash bar. Now, mine's giving me a little bit of an issue just because it's been on for a long time. I'm gonna take a deblo and just tap it off.Man: So now we're gonna be installing our power steering cooler relocation brackets. There's two bolts up here that you need to take out and there's one in the frame that is on top for the lines. So using your 12-millimeter socket, we're gonna take out these two bolts that hold in the cooler. Next, we're gonna take our cover off to expose the 12-millimeter bolt that's gonna hold in the lines. So now you're gonna take out the cover. And using your 12-millimeter socket, you can loosen up this bolt.So now we're gonna install the bracket. You're gonna take your OEM bolt and put it through the hole and you can thread it in with the existing bolt. Then you can line your bracket up into the stud. Now that you have that in the hole, you're gonna take your washer and your included hardware and put the washer over the stud, thread in your nut. Now, for the included hardware, you can take your 13-millimeter socket and tighten that down. So now for the front brackets, you're gonna take your OEM bolt through the drilled hole and thread it in. Then you screw in your hex nut. Now, using your 12-millimeter socket, you can tighten the OEM bolt down. Then we're gonna thread in our hex nut to create a spacer. Then you can slide your bracket over. Now that your cooler bracket is in, we can put your washer and 13-millimeter nut in. Using your 13-millimeter ratcheting wrench, we can tighten that down. Now that you have that tightened down, you can repeat that process on the other side.So now we're gonna line up our mounting bracket with our crash bar studs using your factory hardware. Now with your 14-millimeter socket, you can tighten them down. And you can repeat that process on the other side. So now you're gonna take your long bolt, your smaller washer, put it through, put it through this hole and through the hole in the crossmember in the back. Use your large washer and the nut that was included in the kit. Now using your 18-millimeter socket and 19-millimeter wrench, we can tighten that down. Now we can repeat that process on the other side.So now we're gonna be installing our light bar brackets. You're gonna make sure that the lip is facing towards the front of the vehicle, facing like this. You're gonna take your bolt and washer, put it through, other washer, crush washer, and your nut. Now we can just hand-tight that on so we can line up when your other bracket is installed. And you can repeat that process on the other side. So now that you have both brackets lined up, you're gonna take your bolt, crush washer, and washer, take your light bar, line them up in the brackets, and thread it through. Now using your 13-millimeter socket, we can tighten that down. So now that your light bar is in place, we can go ahead and tighten down our brackets using your 13-millimeter socket and 13-millimeter wrench. And now we can install our mesh panels. Taking your included hardware, you can line your panel up, thread the bolts in. And using your included 6-millimeter Allen, we can tighten these four down. Now you can repeat that process on the other side. Now we're gonna be installing our license plate bracket. You're gonna line these holes up. Use your included bolt and washer to line the holes up. Take your two nuts, thread them in the bottom. Now, take your included Allen key, hold it in, and your 17-millimeter socket, and we're gonna tighten that down. Now, using your included Allen key and your 13-millimeter socket, we can tighten this top bracket down. So, before we install our bumper, we're gonna install our wiring harness for the light bar. We're gonna take out the ground wire bolt and the nut to the terminal. So, now using your 10-millimeter socket, we're gonna take out the ground wire. We're gonna slide in our relay. Line it up. Now we can tighten that down. Then we're gonna loose up our negative terminal bolt. You're gonna insert your black wire, thread your nut back on, tighten that up.Now using your 12-millimeter socket, we can loosen up this nut. Slide our positive over. Tighten that back up with your 12-millimeter socket. So, now we're gonna set our wire with the white clip over to the firewall side, and we're gonna take our connector for the light bar and start feeding it through. So, now that you have your wires snaked through, we can fasten them down with your included zip ties. Now we're gonna be removing the center cover from our bumper. Using these clips, you just have to pry up on the tab and push them out. So, now we're gonna reinstall our bumper. You're gonna slide the hole over the bracket, lift the bumper up, and press these in place, making sure everything is lined up. Then you can push in your fender flares. So, now that your bumper is back in place, first thing you wanna do is plug back in your fog light harness. Now you're gonna take your push pins and insert them in the headlights and these four up here. All right. So before we install the bumper, we're gonna install this trim to protect the paint. You're gonna start here. Push it in. All right. And now, we cut off the excess. So, it's gonna be a little bit hard to see once we put the bumper on, but there is three holes on this bracket that will line up with these welded nuts and you're gonna fasten it down with your bolt, lock washer, and washer. So, now you're gonna grab a buddy to help you line your bumper up.Now you're gonna tighten your bolts down using your 18-millimeter socket. And now you can repeat that process on the other side. And now we're gonna feed our connector through the small grille. Now you can connect your wiring harness to the light bar. So, now we're gonna reinstall our grille. You're gonna line these pins up in these holes. And there's two 10-millimeter screws that go up on top.First, you're gonna take your push pins and slide them in. Then, you can thread your 10-millimeter screws in. And using your 10-millimeter socket, we can tighten that down. So, now, we're gonna feed our switch connector through this rubber grommet of the firewall and you can grab it through on the other side once it's through. So, now that you've fed your wire through the rubber grommet, we're gonna grab it and pull more. All right. Then you're gonna take your connector. You're gonna feed it through up here. Connect your connectors. Then you can pull the backing off this sticky, and we're gonna set it right here. This switch controls your light bar. Red means off, green means on. For this excess wire, you're gonna take your included zip ties and zip tie them up out of the way. So, now, you're gonna take your 10-millimeter screw and fasten it into here to tighten down your fender flare. Take your 10-millimeter socket to tighten it down. Now, you repeat that process on the other side. So, now, we're gonna attach our splash guard using our screws. You're gonna thread them in. Now you're gonna tighten them down using your 10-millimeter socket. And there's two more on each side. Using your 10-millimeter socket, we're gonna tighten them down. You repeat that process on the other side. So, that's gonna wrap up the install on the Barricade HD Stubby Front Bumper with Winch Mount and 20-inch Single Row LED Light Bar for your '16 and newer Tacoma. Thanks for watching, and for all things Tacoma, keep it here at extremeterrain.com.
