Merideth: If you're looking for some better street appeal, and not only the sound, but also the look of your 2009 to 2021, 5.7 liter Toyota Tundra, this MBRP 3-inch XP Series, Single-Side Exit Exhaust System with the polished tip will be a great choice to take a look into. Now getting right into sound, this will come in at a three out five on the loudness meter, with one being completely stock and five being wake the neighbors loud. Now, that'll make it great for the Tundra owner who wants to hear their exhaust, but doesn't want a system that's going to be overbearing inside the truck when it comes to your radio, conversation, and long drives. And this is also just a great pick if you're looking to upgrade the look of your exhaust but you like the factory configuration. This will feature MBRP'S street profile sound that will give you a good amount of volume increase without being over the top and keeping little to no drone inside the cab. And the exhaust will also eliminate some restriction compared to the factory one, which will give you a little boost in performance that you'll feel in those higher RPM ranges. Now again, this will also update the styling with a large polished tip on the back to keep a clean and classic appearance. This exhaust will be made of 3-inch diameter, 16 gauge Mandrel Bend T409 stainless steel tubing for optimal durability and good rough resistance while boasting a non-restrictive airflow design. Now on the back of the exhaust, the tip is also gonna be made of a T304 stainless steel for the best rust resistance while boasting a 4-inch diameter, an angle cut design, and, of course, that polished appearance. And this will also come with everything you need in the kit in order to install it while being completely bolt on so you don't have to do any cutting or welding. When it comes to prices, it'll come in at roughly $575, putting this at a pretty affordable price point for a single-side exit cat back. Now compared to others like it, this system is going to feature that moderate volume increase, the polished appearance, and a durable build. Now, other options available on the page may include a different sound level that may be a bit quieter or louder than what you're looking for, and some of the pricier options may be made of that 304 stainless, which will have a higher durability than 409. Now I think if you're looking to save a couple bucks on a system that's going to give you a good amount of volume while staying comfortable inside the cab and that premium appearance on the back, then this is going to be a great pick. Install will be a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you about two hours to get the job done with some pretty basic hand tools. Now at this point, we can head over to the shop and check out a detailed breakdown of the install and what that looks like step by step. So that's gonna wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into it.Speaker 1: Tools used for this install, a pair of gloves, high protection, a 5/16 down head socket, 14, 15, and 17-millimeter sockets, a three-eighths extension, exhaust grommet removal tool, PB B'laster, and an impact gun. Hey guys, I'm gonna show you how to install our exhaust system here on our 2018 Tundra, but first, we're gonna watch a quick uninstall video and then we'll jump right back into the install.Speaker 2: All right, so before we can get started installing our new exhaust, we're gonna go ahead and get our factory one off. We're gonna show you how to do that while keeping our factory pipe intact. Obviously, if you plan on never reusing your original equipment muffler and exhaust pipe, you can just cut it and make it a lot easier to remove off of your truck, to be quite honest with you. But this is a fleet vehicle, so this installation is not gonna be permanent. So we're gonna show you how to get it all out in one piece. Let's go ahead and get started. One thing I would recommend doing before you get going here, let your exhaust cool down if you've been driving your truck, and also get in there with some lubricating oil and spray up the little rubber hangers that'll make popping those metal hangers out of the rubber a lot easier. All right now to get started, like I already said, guys, I'm gonna make sure everything's cooled down. This first two bolts that we're gonna take out are right by a catalytic converter, which gets really hot, and we've been letting our truck sit for like an hour and it's still pretty warm. I also recommend having eyewear and some gloves while you work with your exhaust. Exhaust pipes tend to have sharp edges to them, not to mention the surfaces being hot as well. So let's go ahead and get these out. Our factory bolts are 14-millimeter. All right, same 14-millimeter socket for these 2 bolts as well. Now we're gonna have a total of four rubber hangers like this, guys, and to be quite honest with you, if you're trying to keep your pipe intact like we are, you can do these in any order that you want. We're kind of doing it the way it might be easiest for us to demonstrate for you. So we're at the one that's all the way, obviously, back here by our spare tire. And you might see a little bit of wetness here on the rubber. I sprayed some penetrating oil on there earlier just to let it sink in. That makes these coming off a lot easier. All right, guys, now this is the fourth out of four rubber hangers. So obviously, once we pop this one loose, you gotta make sure your pipe is supported in some kind of way.Speaker 1: So now that we have our stock exhaust off, what we're gonna do is start installing our front pipes here. We have two of them, one long one, one short one. I'm gonna start with the long one. You're gonna wanna make sure that your gaskets are still in place when you took your stock exhaust off. Now that they're still there, I'm gonna take the longer pipe first, start with that one, get that in place. Then we'll install our shorter pipe. So now I'm gonna take the longer pipe here, get it into our rubber grommet. And we'll get it in place up here. We'll start our bolts. And we'll start our top bolt. So now I'm gonna start with the top one. Now, on your vehicle, they're probably both 14 millimeters. Our top one's 15. We had a bolt and nut on this one up top here. I'm gonna tighten that one first. I'm gonna switch over to my 14-millimeter. Tighten our bottom one. So now we're gonna put our shorter pipe in place. First thing I'm gonna do is get our hanger through our rubber grommet up there. Get that in place and get our pipe lined up here like that. Start our 2 14-millimeter bolts. Just make sure everything's lined up. Now I'm gonna take my 14-millimeter, tighten these 2 bolts up. And the top one.So next, we're going to install our muffler. As you can see, I already have my clamps in place. I'm gonna take it up, line it up. Might have to just move the pipe over just a little bit to get it to go in just like that. We'll get our clamps straight. So next, we're gonna put our axle pipe in place. I'm gonna get it started in our rubber grommet up there, and then get it in our muffler. As you can see, I already put...and make sure you remember to put your clamp on first. I got our clamp on. I got our pipe in place. Next, we'll put our tailpipe on and then we'll start tightening our clamps up. So now we're gonna put our tailpipe in place. Now, I put our rubber grommet from our hanger over here already on, put my clamp on. And what I'm gonna do is get this up in here. I'm gonna have to pull down a little bit on that pipe there just to slide it in, just like that. And then we'll be able to take our hanger up here and get this started in place. Push it on like that, and line up our tailpipe where it's gonna go. So now we have our exhaust all hung up here except for our tip. And I'll start up front with my 15-millimeter and my gun, tighten these clamps up. Now the one at the muffler. And now we'll get the one over the axle there between the axle pipe and the tailpipe. Again, take my 15-millimeter and my gun, tighten this one up. So now I'm gonna install our tip. Just slide it into place here. And it's gonna be preference where you wanna put it, how far out you want it. I try to get it nicely right there. And I'm gonna take my 5/16 Allen socket here on my gun and make sure the tip's straight. Get a good sight of it and tighten this up. And that'll wrap up this install. That wraps up this review and install of our MBRP 3-inch XP Series Single Exhaust System with polished tip side exit for '09 to '21, 5.7-liter Tundras. Thanks for watching. And for all things Tundra, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
