      Video Review & Installation

Hey guys, so today we're checking out the Barricade Extreme HD Adventure Doors for the front, fitting all 2007 to 2018 JK Wranglers. So, trail doors are a great solution for a little bit of extra security while you have your full doors off, whether you're driving around on the street or you're driving around on the trail. And speaking of the trail, these are also going to open up a lot of room at the bottom for extra visibility, so you can see the obstacles that you're climbing over. Now, these are also going to be very strong, made of a steel tubular construction, and they're gonna have a textured black powder coat finish on top, which will protect that steel underneath from any rusting or corrosion. But it's also gonna add a nice heavy-duty look, especially with the non-traditional styling that we have here with this tube door. It's gonna to add more of an off-road look to the side of your Jeep. I really do like how these are set up. They fit really nice, and they also have a very easy and simple to use latching system right on the side for the striker. Now, this is also going to come with a set of mirror mounts if you would like to relocate your factory mirrors. Now, a lot of you guys out there may have power mirrors that you don't want to relocate, or you may have a set of quick-release mirrors or another mirror mounting solution. Any mirror mounts included in this kit are removable, so you don't necessarily have to use them. You can switch it up and really customize it to your own personal setup. Now, with that being said, this set is going to cost you roughly $300, and I would like to mention that this is going to include just the doors for the front. Now, if you are in search of the front and the back doors, you will have to purchase the back doors separately, and it will roughly double in price. However, in my personal opinion, I think that this is set at a very affordable price in comparison to some other choices. In comparison to some other choices that you may see on the category page, those options may include mirrors, which will increase that price point, or they will include covers or sleeves for the door itself, so if you are looking for extra accessories or an additional mirror, those might be the options to choose from. However, if you're looking for something that is going to have some rugged styling and will let you customize your mirror options the way you want to with a very seamless fit, then this is going to be a great choice for you.As far as install goes, this is gonna get a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter for me. You're gonna need some very basic hand tools. Like I said, this is a pretty easy install, so you're probably gonna need an hour's worth of your time to get the job done. So, speaking of that install, let's jump into that now. The tools that I used for my install were a 3/8-inch drive ratchet, a 16-millimeter and 13-millimeter wrench, and a 13-millimeter deep socket. To kick off this install, we will need to remove our factory door, so our first step will be to remove the bolts on the upper and lower door hinge. Now, we take our doors off very frequently, so we don't have those installed, but you will need a T50 Torx bit in order to remove those. Our next step is actually to head inside our cab area, and we're going to remove our limiting strap as well as our wiring harness. So, first we can remove our wiring harness, so we're gonna pull down on this red locking tab, make sure that that is disengaged, then we can disconnect the full wiring harness. So, once that's disconnected, we just have to unhook our limiting strap. So, it is a little bit helpful if we move the door in, push back on that nylon strap, and slide it over. All right. So, now our door can swing all the way out. Be mindful of your mirror up top. Don't want that to hit the body, and then we can go ahead and slide the door out of the hinges. So now that our door is disconnected, what we can do is slide it up and out of the hinges and put it in a safe location. What we can do now is take our driver's side door, line up the hinges on our new tube door to our factory hinges, and slide those in, and it should slide it all the way through. Now we can close up the door, because we'll have to install our latch, so we wanna make sure that that's lined up with our striker here, and then we can go ahead and install that. Now we can install our latch on our striker here. We may have to give it a little bit of force in order to get it on. That's just going to be the force of the door actually closing. And we can move our door in, line it up with our mounting location on our door, then we can grab our provided hardware and start to secure that down. Now, this part may be a little bit tricky, however, it's gonna give you the best location as far as the latching point goes. It's going to be the two bolts, four flat washers, two lock washers, and a lock nut. We're gonna go ahead and snug those up. We wanna make sure that the door itself is aligned, and that the striker is aligned as well, and straight. And then once we have a good location, we can take a 13-millimeter wrench and 13-millimeter socket, and tighten that up.All right, so once the latch is tightened up, you can give it a good test, and it should close up just like that. What we can do next is attach the hardware for our hinges. It's going to be a flat washer and a nylon lock nut. Same thing for the top. And then once those are threaded on by hand, we can take a 13-millimeter deep socket and just tighten that up.Now, you don't wanna over tighten them, just because you do still want the door hinge to move. You just want them tight enough so they're not going anywhere, and that nylon lock nut's gonna help you do that. Now we can tighten up the bottom one. Right. Now we can attach our limiting strap. What we can do next is attach our limiting strap. Now, you can attach the strap wherever you'd like on your mounting point, depending on how far you want your door to open. Now, I'm just gonna go ahead and attach it up at more or less the front. This is gonna allow it to open pretty far, but not far enough that it's going to hit the fender or the body of the Jeep. Right, make sure that that's on there. Right, now we can close up our door and attach our mirror mount. In this kit, you are provided with mirror brackets. Now, you can use these if you do want to swap over your factory mirror. Now, on our Jeep, we have the powered mirror, so we would have to modify them in order to mount them up to our mirror mount for this particular set of doors. Now, if you have a manual powered mirror, all you're gonna need is a T50 Torx bit, then you're gonna remove the top of the mirror and mount it inside of the mount here. Now, if you do not wanna relocate your factory mirrors, there are quick release options that you can mount right up on the A pillar or other mirror mounting options, so you don't necessarily have to use this if you don't want to, but I am gonna show you how to mount it up. So, you are going to have two bolts, as well as flat washers and lock washers. These are going to have a welded nut on the back, so it's gonna be very easy to install this bracket. All we have to do is line it up, take our bolt and our washer and our flat washer, thread that in.So, I'm gonna take a 16-millimeter wrench and just tighten those up. So, after everything's wrapped up on the driver's side, we can repeat that same process for the passenger's side. So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install.
