Hey guys, it's Sara with extremeterrain.com. And today, we have a review and install of the UnderCover Ultra Flex Tri-fold Tonneau Cover with a Textured Black finish, fitting your 2020 and newer Jeep Gladiator models. This is perfect for the Gladiator owner who's looking for a tri-fold-style hard tonneau cover and wants one with a low-profile design that folds all the way up to the back window for maximum bed usage. This tri-fold tonneau cover features a low-profile design with a convenient locking system that locks at each panel and folds all the way up to the back window for the most versatility and room for hauling larger cargo. It is constructed from durable and lightweight aluminum panels and frame with a nice, matte black finish that features buckles and straps to lock it in the open position, as well as posts that snap in place to lock it all the way up to that back window. Now, to operate this tonneau cover, first drop your tailgate, then release each panel by pulling down on the cable. And because it locks in every position, you'll have to release it in each position. Once you get back to this position if you'd like to leave it here, all you need to do is clip these buckles and straps on each side. And then it does hold up in one more position up to the glass. You'll have to release the cable on this panel, fold it all the way up. These support braces will be tucked onto the rails, clip them onto each of these balls. And to unfold the tonneau, you do this exact same process in reverse. Making sure it locks in each rail as you fold out each section. And then, of course, shut your tailgate. This tonneau cover protects your bed from the elements, thanks to that weatherstripping that goes around the outside of the cover. And because it is a hard cover, it's gonna protect from theft as well, locking with your tailgate for added security. And as far as price goes, this tonneau cover comes in at around $1,100, putting it on the higher end price-wise when compared to other options. And for your money, you are getting a low-profile hard cover that folds all the way up to the back window for maximum utilization of your bed space. And as far as the install goes, I'm giving this one a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It does feature a direct bolt-up install with only minor trimming of the plastic required for the back brackets. All in all, it can be done within one hour. So with that said, let's check out that install. For this install, we used a Phillips head screwdriver, ratcheting 10-millimeter wrench, 10 and 11-millimeter sockets, and a ratchet. All right. So the first step in our install, we're gonna grab one of these L-brackets and get it bolted up near the bulkhead of your truck. Now these are side-specific, so make sure you have the proper side. We're on the driver side, so we're working with the left bracket, should be labeled right in the center there. First thing we're gonna do is find this tab and line it up with this opening in the bed. And at the same time also line up this threaded hole all the way to the outside. Grab one of your M6 bolts and get it threaded in. And once you have that threaded in, you can grab a 10-millimeter socket, and tighten it down. All right. At this point, we're gonna install the bracket towards the back of your bed. Now, if you're wondering, we have two threaded holes already exposed on the bed of our truck. Now, if you can't see these two threaded holes, it's covered by plastic. You do need to trim this back. Luckily, there is an indent here and all you need to do is grab a razor knife, follow that indent and pull that piece of plastic out. And you'll see the two threaded holes behind it. Once you've trimmed that plastic out, you can grab your bracket and measure it up to those two threaded holes in this configuration. You're gonna take each of your M6 hardware and thread it in to those holes. Now with our 10-millimeter socket... We're actually gonna snug these up and not tighten them down all the way so we can adjust this when we have our rail go into the top two holes. All right. Now I did wanna point out that this tonneau cover does come with an optional light for the inside of your bed that installs in one of your rails. Now, the directions say you can install this with the rail on, but I think it is a lot easier to install it before you install that rail on the bed of your truck. If you'd like to add it, all you need to do is grab one of the rails, whatever side you would like it on. You'll notice a piece of plastic on the end. Either by hand or with a flat-head screwdriver, pull this piece of plastic off, take your light, line it up with the end of the rail, and slide it in place. Now it's gonna have a stop right here. That's just because you need to loosen up this Phillips, go ahead and loosen the Phillips. It has a plate behind it to secure it in place. Slide it the rest of the way in your rail. Again, with the Phillips, tighten it down. And then grab that piece of plastic that you removed, line it up, and press it back on your rail. Now you can get it installed on your truck the same as if you don't have the light. And now with both brackets in place, you can grab your rail and set it in front of the bracket upfront and right on top of the bracket in the rear. Now, these are side-specific, so you wanna make sure you're grabbing the proper side rail. You'll know because the port for the drain tube will be upfront. So go ahead and get it lined up, and then we'll get it bolted down. Now we're gonna start with the bracket at the front. You can see these two openings here in the rail. What you're gonna do is thread one of your M6 bolts through the rail and into the bracket. There should be a threaded nut on the backside of the bracket. Make sure you put both bolts in. There should be two threaded holes. Then with your 10-millimeter socket, tighten it down. Now while we're up here, we're also gonna install this drain tube. Go ahead and line it up over that port on the rail and twist it in place.Once it's securely on that port, you can go ahead and route this however you like. There is one opening in the right behind this cleat. I think it's a nice area, but again, you can route this wherever you like, as long as it's going out of the bed. Now, this may be a little bit hard to see, but we're at the back of the rail at the rear bracket. We're gonna get these two studs lined up through this bracket and install the hardware. Make sure those studs are both poking through the bracket. If not, just move the rail until they both line up and you can also move this bracket as well.Next up, you're going to thread two of these flange nuts over top of the studs. And once you have them started, grab an 11-millimeter socket, and tighten them down. Once those two are tight, you also wanna snug up these two bolts that we left loose earlier. Grab a 10-millimeter ratcheting wrench and tighten these down. And make sure you repeat all of those steps on the other side. Now that you have the driver-side rail fully installed, make sure you repeat all of those steps to install the passenger-side rail. Once you've done that, grab your tonneau cover. Now you may want a friend for this step just to help you line it up. Line it up in between both rails and make sure you save room for the front piece, which goes over top of the bulkhead. Now we can get this bolted down. All right. So now that you have the tonneau cover in place, we need to install this bracket for the buckle and strap. What you're gonna do is take these two posts and line them up in the holes in your cover, and then flip your cover up. Once you have it in the up position, go ahead and grab the Phillips head hardware and get it threaded into that plastic bracket. Grab your Phillips head screwdriver and tighten it down. Repeat that with your second Phillip head, and tighten this one down as well. Once it's fully installed, you can close the cover and make sure you repeat that on the other side. Now, before we can get this plastic clamp installed to the rail, we do have to install it onto the cover. Now we're gonna flip up this section closest to the bulkhead, and you'll notice a stud on the bottom here that has a square pattern around it. What you're gonna do is line up that stud in this channel and slide it in place. Now we can close it and go underneath. Now you can slide that plastic clamp over to the rail. You'll notice an opening in the clamp, make sure it grabs the edge of the rail, clicks in place. And then go ahead and grab the knob and tighten it down to fully attach the cover to the rail. And make sure you repeat those steps on the other side. And now that you're cover is fully clamped down to the rails on both sides, you can go ahead and fold it out. It should click in place at each panel. And then you can shut your tailgate. All right. So that is gonna do it for the review and install of this tonneau cover. And remember for all things Gladiator, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
