      Video Review & Installation

Hey, guys. So, today we're checking out the RedRock 4x4 13-Inch Trail Antenna, fitting all 2020 and newer Gladiator JTs. So, if you are looking for some very small and very affordable mods to help give your Gladiator a sporty look and also get some functionality out of those smaller mods, then this is going to be a great choice to take a look into. Now, this is going to be about 22 inches shorter than stock. And of course, it's going to give you more of a sporty off-road look in comparison to your factory antenna. Now, what I do really like about this is the fact that this is going to be great for anybody who's going off-road or really anybody who's not who has found the factory antenna to be annoying, whether it has come up against any brush or branches while you're out on the trail or just bothered you while you were in the carwash, if it's moving around and hitting the side of your Gladiator, you obviously don't want that to happen. But with this option, this is going to be very flexible, it's going to bounce back into place if it is hit. And I personally think that this is going to be a lot more functional than the factory antenna while still giving you some good reception to your radio. Now, what I will say is that this is going to be a lot shorter. So, if you do live in a very rural area, it may not be as good as your factory antenna. But it's really not going to hinder the performance of the satellite reception, especially because this is a little bit bigger than some of the other very stubby choices. Now, this is going to have a rubber coating on it. Like I said, this is going to be very flexible. If it does hit something or if it does hit a branch it is just going to bounce right back, that rubber coating is going to make sure that it stands up to the elements and that the antenna itself is going to be very durable. Now, as far as pricing is concerned, this is going to come in at roughly $30. Again, a very affordable mod for something that makes a big difference. Even though it is a small mod, a subtle mod, it really does make a difference to the side of the Gladiator here with the look that it gives. Now, in comparison to some other choices available on the page, some other options are usually going to be set up very similar to this, however, they're most likely going to be in different sizes. So, you may see some that are a little bit taller or a little bit longer than this 13-inch choice, or you're going to see it the complete opposite. So, you'll see some that are just completely stubby and completely low profile on out the way, and then you have those choices that are like the 50 cal bullet antennas and have different designs for that. Now, I personally think if you're looking for something that's right in the middle, you're looking for good reception, something that's functional but also looks very sporty in the meantime, then this is going to be a great choice. Now, as far as the install is concerned, very easy, I'm going to give it a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you about five minutes to get the job done, and you'll only need one tool to do it. So, speaking of the install, let's jump into that now.The tool that I used for my install was a 10-millimeter wrench. So, this install is going to be incredibly easy. All you really need is a 10-millimeter wrench. We're going to go ahead and use this just to break the antenna free. And then once you're able to twist it by hand, we can just twist this. It might be helpful to turn it on a couple more times if it does get a little bit difficult to thread off with your fingers, then we can just pop this out of place. So, before we go ahead and install this new antenna, I did want to just sit it next to our factory one and show you guys the difference between these two, show you some of the similarities and why this is gonna be a big upgrade for your Gladiator. Now, as you can tell, our factory one is going to be extremely longer than our new one here. This is going to be about like 35 inches long, depending on where you measure it on the antenna. So, obviously, this can get in the way, especially if you are out on the trail. This can hit branches, brush, lash back and be quite annoying, especially if you're not even going out on the trail. If you're just going into the carwash, this can be annoying. And not only is it going to be long and kind of in the way, but it's not going to look the best and it is going to look a little bit janky right out of the factory. Now, moving over to this one, this is going to be about 13 inches long, it's going to be a lot shorter out of the way and more low profile. So, it's going to have this rubber coating on it which is going to stand up to the elements and give it a sporty look. And it's going to be pretty flexible. So, if it does get hit while you're out on the trail or get hit with anything, it's just going to bounce right back. And again, that's sporty look, especially with the black accent or the black rubber there. Now, this is also not really going to hinder your satellite performance or your radio reception, should I say, because it still is 13 inches. It's not like a super stubby one, especially if you live in a more populated area. This is not going to hinder that performance at all. So, a ton of benefits when moving over to this and super easy to install. So, all we have to do is just screw at the bottom into place, and we are good to go. So, all we have to do at this point is just thread this into place and then we'll be good to go. Now, we're not going to need a tool for this, this just threads in by hand. You can just use that on hand tight, and you're all set.So, that is going to wrap it up for my review and install it. Make sure you like and subscribe for more videos and products just like this.
