      Product Videos

Hey, guys. I'm Eric with ExtremeTerrain. In this video, we're gonna do a quick review and install of this RedRock 4X4 Crawler Stubby Winch Front Bumper, for all 2020 and later Jeep Gladiators. You should really be checking this out if you want to add some serious off-road capability to your Gladiator, as well as some aggressive styling for the front end. Now, the design here from RedRock 4X4 is a full 20 inches narrower than the factory bumper that comes on your Gladiator. That's gonna allow a lot more opening here to allow your tires to get up and over obstacles on the trails, whether it be rocks, logs, or terrain itself, you are gonna be able to get those tires up and over those obstacles, and keep on moving without a problem. Now, in addition to that kind of narrower design, you also have this reinforced bull bar up top here, that loops over like a lot of them do, but also has these reinforced bars that come down towards the outside of the bumper.I really like that styling personally. I think it's a nice touch. But that's gonna add a lot of protection to your radiator and grille, plus the addition of two mounting points up top here for additional off-road lighting, if that's what you want to add down the road. And a couple other interesting touches I wanna point out about this bumper's design, which I think are pretty cool, is that the D-ring mounts that you have up top here are not your standard design. They also have these additional openings up top here that would allow you to thread through something like a tree saver, or a tow strap, or something along those lines, if you wanna hold something else on the outside of your bumper, whether you wanna keep it handy, if you anticipate using it, or if you've already used it, and it's all muddy, wet, and dirty, and you don't feel like throwing it into the inside of your Jeep, you have a place to keep it right here. The other thing I really like is the kind of lowered and recessed tray for your winch mount. Brings it down a little bit lower. It's gonna give a little bit of protection to your winch, and it keeps it down and out of the flow of air into the radiator for your Jeep. And another interesting aspect to the design as well, and you'll see this when we get to the installation phase of this video, is that the way this is kind of cut open in the top is you have very easy access if you're going to add a winch after the bumper is already mounted on your Jeep. You will be able to access it from the sides or from the underside, in order to bolt up that winch to the mounting plate. You don't get that on every bumper, and it certainly makes it very easy if you already have the bumper and you're looking to add a winch. Now, made from durable 5/32-inch steel plate, and protected by a two-stage black powder coat, this bumper currently comes in right around $500. And considering all the upgrades to make it more off-road capable, plus the ability to add a winch, that's a pretty competitive price compared to what's out there. Now, as far as the installation goes, I'm giving it a very basic one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Budget about two hours of your time, max, to get this installed. Some basic hand tools are all you're really gonna need. This bumper is one of the easier bumpers I've worked with to install. It has four bolt studs welded to the bumper itself, and those are gonna fit right up to the factory mounting points on the frame rails of your Jeep, making installation very easy. So, let's take a look at the tools we're gonna use, and go ahead with the installation.Okay, guys, the tools we're gonna use for this installation include an electric impact wrench, a hand socket wrench, an extension, swivel socket, 8, 10, 16, and 18-millimeter sockets, and a trim removal tool. All right, guys, to begin our uninstall of our stock bumper to get ready for our new product, we're gonna remove a couple of pop clips up top here for this splash guard that kind of tucks in behind the bumper and in front of the radiator grille. So, in order to do that, we're gonna leave it on the ground. And then we're gonna put our truck up on a lift, just to give you a better camera shot, to show you the rest of the stock removal of this bumper.Okay, go ahead and grab yourself a trim removal tool. If you don't have one of these, a wide blade, a flathead screwdriver will probably work just as well. Just pull up on these pop clips. That's just to allow this piece to separate from the piece that's attached to the Jeep. All right, guys, now we have a series of these lock pins or lock clips on the underside as well. We're gonna remove these. All right, guys, now, you're gonna have two bolts under here. They're gonna need a 8-millimeter socket to get these out. And make sure you're supporting it with the off hand. Once you get this last one out, it's gonna wanna come off. All right, guys, now we're gonna take our skid plate off here. You're gonna have a 16-millimeter bolt on, one on each side. All right, guys, now you're gonna wanna locate this connector right here. This connects the wiring from the Jeep to the wiring harness that runs the full length of your bumper, to both fog lights, if you have fog lights on your front bumper, which we do. You need to disconnect that one. That's good for both fog lights. All right, guys, next, we're gonna be going after these bolts here. You've got four on each side, or on each frame rail mount. We're gonna take these out using an 18-millimeter socket. I'm gonna leave that one on a couple threads, just to help secure the bumper and keep it on there while we have our Jeep up in the air.All right, guys, now we're doing the two on the inside of the frame rail, on the passenger side of the Jeep here. This bottom one might be a little bit difficult for you to see with the camera angle, but we're gonna start on the top one here. Again, this is the 18-mill socket we're using. All right. Once you get all four of these started, do that on the driver's side of your Jeep. All right, guys, once you have all eight nuts removed, including the one we left on there just a couple of threads, just to keep it from falling off on us, go ahead and remove your bumper. All right, guys. Now we have our factory bumper off our Jeep. We wanna put it on the floor here and give you a little side-by-side comparison with our new RedRock bumper. Now, obviously, this unit from RedRock is quite a difference both in styling and in off-road capability. You know, overall it's about 20 inches narrower than your factory bumper, so that's gonna give you a lot more advantages out on the trail as far as clearing obstacles and terrain. You're gonna be able to put your tires up over those obstacles a lot easier with this bumper. Not to mention you have these D-ring mounts that are a little bit stylized and different from what you typically see. It has the opening for the D-ring at the bottom, but it has a larger opening at the top. If you want to thread through a tow strap or some other outdoor or offroad recovery gear that you wanna strap on there, maybe you just used it and it's all wet and muddy, and you don't feel like throwing it back in your Jeep. It's a good place to kind of hang it there if you wanna let it dry out, or if you anticipate needing it a little bit later in the day. Either way, this is quite an upgrade. You have your winch plate, and of course, additional slots for off-road lighting up on the top of the bull bar here as well. So, let's go ahead and get it installed. All right, guys, now we're gonna go ahead and lift the bumper up into place. You should be able to do this by yourself unless you find it maybe just a little bit too heavy. The nice thing about this design is it's kind of cut out in the middle, so you will be able to eyeball the bolt studs, and get them into the holes on the frame rail. So, if you go ahead and step to the front...Once it's on there, I'm just gonna start a bolt, to keep it on there safely. Then we'll go ahead and repeat that around the rest of the mounting points. All right, guys, from up above here, you can see, here's two studs on the inside of the passenger frame rail. Go ahead and put a flat washer on each. And then we're gonna put some lock washers on. We'll thread a couple of nuts on there, and then we'll tighten everything down in a second. To tighten these down, we're gonna use a 16-millimeter socket on these. And then we'll hit the two on the outside of the frame rail as well. And we'll repeat that on the other side of the Jeep. All right, guys, on the outside of the frame rail, I have a little bit more room to work, so I'm switching over to a power tool and a swivel socket, as well as my 16-millimeter deep well socket. Go ahead and repeat that over on the driver's side. All right, guys, last touches, we're gonna add some D-rings to the bumper.Okay, guys. That wraps up this review and installation of this RedRock 4x4 Crawler Stubby Winch Front bumper, for all 2020 and later Jeep Gladiators. And of course, for all things Gladiator, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
