Merideth: Hey, guys. So today, we're checking out the PowerStop OE Replacement Brake Rotor and Pad Kit for the Front and the Rear, fitting all 2007 to 2018 JK Wranglers. Now, maintenance is expected out of every vehicle, and the Jeep is no exception. And this set of brakes will be for you if you're in search of an affordable choice for a full brake kit. Now, even though this is an OE-style setup as it says in the name, this will still increase your stopping power up to 20% compared to your stock brakes, which will be great if you're looking for a better kit than your factory components while still keeping it on the affordable side. Now, what I like about this kit is that this will keep it simple and to the point with quality components, but won't break the bank in comparison to other high-performance kits. Now, this kit will include one-piece blank face vented rotors with a premium cast iron construction being very durable while resisting any cracking and also having the proper cooling. This will also come with eight ceramic compound Z16 brake pads that will have low dust and minimal noise, which will be great for the Jeep owner looking for minimal cleanup when it comes to their brake dust, as well as their wheels and similar qualities compared to the factory components. Not to mention, this will be a direct replacement, so there's no question when it comes to fitment, and this will come with everything that you need to install it, including all the rotors, all the pads, the clips, and the grease, making this a very inclusive kit. Now, when it comes to price, this kit will come in at roughly $200, again, making it very affordable for what it is. Now, when taking a look at other choices available on the page, a lot of options are usually separated between the front or the back. And this one is going to be a full kit, making it a one-stop shop. Now, when you're scrolling around, you may also see some high-performance choices, and those kits will usually come with drilled and slotted rotors, as well as high-performance or high-heat brake pads. Now, those are going to be great if you are working your brakes a lot, taking your Jeep off-road, you're wheeling harder trails than the average trail, or you're hitting higher speeds a lot more often compared to a daily driver. Now, however, if you are a daily driver or your Wrangler is and you're not constantly working the brakes on or off-road, you're just looking for an affordable kit that's going to get the maintenance done on your JK, then this is going to be a good choice. Now, when it comes to install, I'm gonna give this a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you about two hours to get the job done with the right hand tools. And one of our installers here is gonna show you how that process goes step by step. So that's gonna wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into the install.Man: Tools required for this install include an 18-millimeter wrench, a 1/2-inch drive ratchet, a 3/8 drive ratchet, an extension, a 21-millimeter socket, 13-millimeter socket, screwdriver, a caliper piston compressor, a hanger or a bungee cord, and lubricant. What's up, guys? Today, we're gonna be installing a set of brake pads and rotors on our JK. So let's get right down to it.So, our first step is we have these two 13-millimeter bolts holding in our caliper. So we can undo those and then hang our caliper up on our coil somewhere out of the way so that we don't have tension on our brake line. Now with our caliper removed, we can slide out our brake pads. All right. So, our next step, we can pop out our wheel speed sensor to get some clearance to get a socket on that bolt. And now we can take a 21-millimeter and get our 2 caliper bracket bolts out. Now we can repeat that same uninstall procedure on the other side. So, now coming to the back, we can repeat pretty much that same process. We have these two 13-millimeter bolts that hold in our caliper. So, we can go ahead and remove those first. So, now we can remove our brake pads and then take out our two 18-millimeter bolts that are holding in our bracket. I'm gonna get in there with a wrench. There's another nut right next to it, so it's hard to get a socket over. And finally, we can pull our rotor off. And we can repeat that same process on the other side. So, now coming back to the table, we can take our caliper brackets, pull out our pad guides, and put in our new ones. So, when these clips are old, they can typically just pop out real easy. But if not, you can get in there with a flathead screwdriver. And now we can get these back on the Jeep. So, now we can reinstall our new rotor and our bracket. And you can throw a lug nut on here to hold the rotor into place. So, now we can go ahead and grease all of our metal contact points. So we're gonna get all of our guides and the back of our brake pads as well. So, our next step's gonna be to compress the caliper piston so that we can fit it over our new pads. So we can take one of our old brake pads, put it against the piston, and then take a piston compressor tool. So now that we have the caliper piston compressed, we can pull out our guide pins and grease these as well. Then we can get our boot reseated. And now we're ready to install our caliper. We can tighten those up with a 13-millimeter.All right. So, now we can reconnect our real speed sensor, slide it into the bracket. And we can repeat that same process on the other side. And now before we start on the other side, we're gonna go into the car and press the brakes a couple of times, that way our piston comes back out and we're not spewing brake fluid out of our reservoir. All right. So, now coming into the back, we can repeat that same process as the front. So we'll get our rotor into place. And then we throw a couple of lug nuts on to hold it into place. And now we can apply our grease to our guides on both sides. And we'll also grease up the back of our brake pads again. Now we can grease our guide pins on the back as well. And now, just like the front, we can go back with one of our old brake pads and our piston compressor. And now we can reinstall our caliper and our 13-millimeter screws. And we can tighten those up with our 13-millimeter. And now we can repeat that same process on the other side.So that'll wrap up this review and install of the PowerStop OE Brake Rotor and Pad Kit for the Front and Rear for your 2007 to 2018 JK Wrangler. Thank you for watching. And remember, for all things Wrangler, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.

      Description

More Stopping Power. Replace your JK's old, worn out brakes and regain reliable stopping power with a PowerStop Brake Rotor and Pad Kit. PowerStop's Replacement Rotor and Pad Kit will provide up to 20% more braking power in comparison to your Wrangler's original factory set up. This Rotor and Pad Combo Kit is ideal for those budget minded Wrangler owners who want to increase braking performance without breaking the bank.

OE Style Rotors. The included PowerStop Rotors feature the standard OE blank style design. With blank rotors, you don't have to worry about the rotor cracking or breaking and you'll have the ability of resurfacing the rotor face in the future. The Front Rotors feature a traditional straight vane vent design. Vented rotors help expel hot gasses quicker to improve the overall heat dissipation, which in turn increases your Wrangler's braking performance. Please note that the rear rotors are a solid design.

Quality Construction. Manufactured from premium cast iron blanks, PowerStop OE-Style One Piece Rotors feature a precision machined braking surface. All of PowerStop's Rotors have been mill balanced for a perfect fit and to reduce the chance of any unwanted noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH).

Z16 Evolution Ceramic Pads. PowerStop Z16 Evolution Sport Pads feature a ceramic compound that provides up to 20% more stopping power than any other leading brand. Made using OE positive mold technology, Evolution Pads ensure a uniform friction density throughout the entire pad, which helps control noise and premature wear. PowerStop pre-scorches their pad surfaces for a quick break-in, reducing the risk of warping your rotors.

Minimal Dust and Noise. Z16 Evolution Pads feature a chambered and slotted just like OE pads and incorporate noise insulating rubberized shims that will ensure your brakes work almost silently. Not only will these brake pads work quietly, but they will produce less dust than stock pads. Due to the powder coated backing plate design, these pads resist rust and corrosion, ultimately extending the brake pads lifespan.

Direct Fit Replacement Upgrade. PowerStop designed their Replacement Brake Rotor and Pad Kit to be a direct fit replacement upgrade for your Wrangler's stock rotor and pads. Installation can normally be completed in under three hours with just basic hand tools using the existing calipers and hardware.

Complete Front and Rear Kit. This PowerStop Brake Kit comes complete and includes (2) 11.89" OE style front rotors, (2) 12.44" OE style rear rotors, (2) pairs of ceramic front brake pads, (2) pairs of ceramic rear brake pads. The kit also includes all the required hardware needed for installation on your Wrangler's original factory calipers.

Backed by a 90-Day/3,000-Mile Limited Warranty. The PowerStop Brake Rotor and Pad Kit is covered by a 90-day/3,000-mile limited warranty. It doesn’t cover failures of components due to disc thickness variation (DTV) or normal wear. For more information on this coverage, please visit the manufacturer’s website.
