Hey guys, it's Sara with extremeterrain.com. And today, we have a review and install of the Pace Edwards JackRabbit Full Metal Retractable Tonneau Cover in Matte Black, fitting your 2020 and newer Jeep Gladiator models. This is perfect for the Gladiator owner that's looking for a top-of-the-line hardcover option that offers security, a sleek low-profile appearance, and ease of operation. This full metal retractable tonneau cover provides protection for your bed as well as your cargo and features a constant tension system for ease of operation. This tonneau cover is constructed from durable aluminum rails, as well as panels on the cover itself, and has a nice, matte black finish. It also sits very low to give your truck a streamlined appearance. This tonneau cover comes with a locking latch at the back for maximum security and also secures in the open or closed position for the most versatility when hauling larger cargo. Now to operate this tonneau cover, start by dropping your tailgate. You can release the cover with this latch on the side, and then slide the cover all the way open. From there to close it, grab the strap, pull it straight back out, and you'll hear it lock in place. Now you can secure that strap at the side with the velcro, and then shut your tailgate. So as far as price goes, this tonneau cover comes in at around $1,800, which is on the higher end price-wise when compared to other options. And for your money, you are getting a high-end hardcover option that features ease of install, a sleek appearance once installed, and added security over other options. And as far as the install goes, I'm giving this one a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It does feature a direct bolt-up install with no modification required and can be done within one hour. So with that said, let's check out that install. For this install, you will need an 11-millimeter socket, as well as a ratchet and a Phillips head screwdriver. All right. So the first step in our install is to grab the canister portion of the cover and get it set in place. Now you can grab from the center with the strap, but if you have a friend handy, you can have someone give you a hand. We're just gonna lift these on either side. Go ahead and get it lined up to the very back of your bed and set it on top of each side of the bed. Now with our canister and cover in place, we can start to install these rails. What you're gonna do is make sure you have the proper side. They are side-specific. Line it up on top of the edge of your bed. And there should be an opening here, face the opening towards the cover. Line the cover up and slide it in until it doesn't go any farther. Then we can go underneath and get it clamped to the edge of the bed.And now we can get the cover bolted down to the rails. You'll notice a plastic piece that sticks down. It should be lining up with some threads in the rail. And you're gonna use these hex bolts with a washer and lock washer. Go ahead and thread it in. Then with a 10-millimeter socket, tighten it down. And repeat that on the other side. Now that we have the cover bolted to our rails, we need to install the brackets from the rails to the bed, as well as these support brackets. Now the support brackets need to slide down the rail itself. We can't do that if the rail is bolted up. So what we're gonna do is slide these on first, get our rails clamped down, and then finish installing the support braces. To get these support braces installed on the rail, all you're gonna do is pull the rail slightly off of the bed so we can slide these down. There should be two channels. Line those up, slide the bracket on.Really all we need to do is clear this portion of the bed. Then we can get those braces bolted up the rest of the way later on. And now we can get our brackets installed. You'll see two braces right here. You wanna go right for the center of those. We have one of these silver brackets with this opening. Go ahead and line that up right in the center. Now, if you do have the trail rail system, this will look a little bit different. This is the second bracket. This one goes behind the rail. What we're gonna do is line up this threaded knob through this hole and into that second bracket. Line it up as best you can, and then go ahead and just twist that knob to tighten it down. Now, repeat that on the front portion. This will look exactly the same, two support braces. You wanna put the clamp right in the center. I've already pre-attached the two clamps to each other just to make it a little bit easier. Make sure they're properly seated. And with that knob, tighten it down. Now you wanna line up your support braces, make sure they're evenly spaced from one another. I'm putting one towards the front clamp and one towards the back. But as long as there's spaced even to give this rail support, that is fine. Next up, we're gonna slide this support post through the opening in the bracket. And on the other side, we're using a washer, a lock washer, and the wingnut.Keep this parallel to the bed and the rail as you tighten down the wingnut. And then once that's tight in this direction, we're gonna use this knob to tighten up between the bed and the bracket. This is gonna provide extra support to the rail. You just wanna make sure it's nice and flush against the side of the bed as you tighten it up. Now, repeat that with the support brace at the back. Slide it through your bracket, slide that hardware on the other side, a washer, lock washer, and the wingnut. Go ahead and tighten that down while you keep this nice and parallel. And then once that's tight, go ahead and use that knob to tighten it down against the edge of the bed.Now we can install the drain tube in the bottom of the canister and right out of the side of the bed here. Now what I'm gonna do is just slide that through the opening in the bed. Now you can go to any opening that you like, you don't have to go to this one. I just think this one is the easiest and it's the closest to that drain tube hole. Line up the tabs in the bottom of the cover, and then twist it in place to lock it down. Make sure you repeat that on the other side. And now that you have the rails bolted down, we can install the cover on top of the canister. Go ahead and line it up on either side. Make sure it's even, and you'll see some threads on a clip nut there. What we're gonna do is grab the bolts and get them through the top of this cover into those threads. Now you can see these clip nuts that we're talking about in the actual canister itself. You'll slide the cover over top, and then what we're gonna do is line up this opening in the cover with one of your screws and get it threaded into that clip nut underneath. There's one in the back as well, go ahead and line that up. And once they're both lined up, grab a Phillips head screwdriver and tighten it down. Make sure you repeat that on the other side. Now the last step here is to install this optional velcro. You can put this wherever you like near the back of the bed, and what this does is secure your strap so you don't have to go hunting for it when it's time to operate your cover. Peel off that protective layer on the double-side adhesive line up your velcro, again, wherever you like, and go ahead and stick it down. Just make sure that surface is clean and dry. And then all you have to do is grab your strap, secure it there, and you'll have it when it's time to operate your cover. Now that everything is bolted down, make sure you repeat all of those steps on your passenger side rail. Once your rails are both secured, you can grab the cover and pull it straight out to lock it in place. Just grab this strap, pull it until it clicks at the back. Now, if you have any issues with this cover sliding out, all you need to do is adjust the fitment of these rails until it slides smoothly. Now that the strap is fully extended, we can secure it back here to the velcro and shut your tailgate.Another great feature of this tonneau cover is that it does come with a lock right at the back. This is also how you release this tonneau, so it is nice that you're able to lock it down so no one can release it without your knowledge. All you need to do to lock it is flip up this cover, grab the included keys, lock it down, and now you can no longer toggle this back and forth. To unlock it, same thing in reverse. And now you can toggle it to open your cover. All right. And that's gonna do it for the review and install of this tonneau cover. And remember for all things Gladiator, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
