This MBRP Black Series Cat Black Exhaust is for those of you that have a 97-99 TJ and are looking to change up the sound of your Jeep. This is going to give you a lower and louder exhaust which is really all you can expect out of the Cat Back System. However, this system is also going to be a little bit different exit. Instead of coming straight out the back next to the gas tank, this has a little bit of an angle on. Comes out more of the rear corner of the Jeep changing up the look. And also, as you can tell, as it says in the name, this is a black system so it's also going to add that little bit of attitude to your Wrangler as well. I am going to give this a one out of three wrenches and it'll probably take you around an hour to get this installed. Now, this is going to be an aluminized steel system from MBRP. Even though it has that black finish over top of it, it is going to be one of the lower-grade exhaust system materials. If you were to scratch this black, you are probably going to end up with some surface rust that will turn into worse rust. So, you are going to want to make sure that you keep a coating on this. If you do scratch up the black coating, make sure that you touch it up so you don't end up with any rust on this system. This system really includes everything you're going to need to get it installed on your Jeep, and because it works with those 97 to 99 TJs, this is going to be for the Wranglers that have a single cat and not the double mini cats. So, this is going to have a muffler, you'll remove your factory one from your catalytic converter and attach that piece. Of course it has the over axle plate and then the exhaust tip as well. All of the hangars are already welded onto the pipe that will match up with those factory hanger locations, and it's going to come with all of the black band clamps that you're going to need to get everything attached as well. I am going to give this a one out of three wrenches, and it'ill probably take you around an hour to get this installed. Even the newest of TJs are gonna have some rust on them and when you go back to that 97-99 era, chances are you are gonna have a little bit of rust, and that can make working with an exhaust system a little bit more difficult. So, go ahead and spray all of your clamps, all of your nuts and bolts with a good penetrating oil well before you get started with this installation. It's going to pay dividends at the end. Now, the first step in the insulation is really going to be removing that factory exhaust system. You'll remove the rubber hangers from your factory exhaust system, remove everything out of the Jeep. Go ahead and disconnect the muffler from the catalytic converter. Now, this is an area that can be a little bit difficult especially if you don't have a lift on your Jeep. Getting that single piece over axle pipe from the factory out of your Wrangler can be a little tough. If you're not going to be reusing that system, if it's in bad shape, or if you just don't care about throwing it in the trash can, go ahead and take your , cut it, it'll make it a lot easier to get it uninstalled. If you do have a lift on your Jeep, you can go ahead and jack up the Jeep by the frame giving you a little bit more space between the axle and the bottom of the tub. That will make it easier to get that over axle pipe out of the way. Once that old system is removed, you'll go ahead and hang your new muffler onto the catalytic converter using the included clamp, and as I said before, this hanger will match up with the factory hanger that's on your Jeep. Go ahead and install your new over axle pipe. Of course this is two-piece system. It makes a little bit easier to get that installed. Another clamp will go here. You'll have another hanger in the back section, and finally, you'll be able to attach the tip on to the system finishing everything off. Like I said before, pretty simple system to get installed. You're going to need some sockets and some wrenches and make sure you spray everything with a good penetrating oil before you get started. This system is gonna run you around $280 which is one of the less expensive Cat Black Systems that we offer for your TJ. And the main reason for that is just the fact that this is aluminized steel versus some of the others that are going to be a 409 or even a 304 stainless. Now if you're in an area where they don't put a lot of salt on the road in the winter, or your Jeep doesn't get a driven in the winter, if you're in one of those drier climates, you probably don't have to worry too much about the material that your exhaust is made of. However, if you are in one of the states that are up in the salt belt like we are, if you get a lot of rain, if you're worried about rust, maybe you want to go with one of the more expensive systems that is a higher grade material that may hold up better in the long run. So, if you're looking for some more attitude out of your exhaust, a little bit lower note, and some more volume, I definitely recommend taking a look at this MBRP Black Cat Back Exhaust System that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

Improved Performance. Winning more torque and horsepower for moving your 1997-1999 TJ Wrangler more vigorously over the trail or out of a sticky situation, the MBRP Black Series Cat-Back Exhaust is an elegantly straight forward single side exit exhaust system. Growling fiercely during acceleration, it settles into a mellow, rich rumble when you're cruising or driving at a fairly steady speed. Besides a welcome boost to ft/lbs of torque and horsepower, the MBRP Black Series often produces +1-2 mpg additional fuel economy, depending on your Wrangler's exact configuration. The large black tip looks strong but stealthy, giving a unique look to your Jeep, too.

Bolt-On, Tough. The MBRP Black Series Cat-Back Exhaust is made with a bolt-on setup that doesn't need drilling or modification to install, and comes with all necessary hardware. The system features aluminized steel construction with 2.5-inch tubing and a 3.5-inch tip, all black coated for appearance and additional corrosion proofing. All parts are laser-cut for an easy, exact fit, and the Cat-Back comes with a 3 year system warranty and a 1 year finish warranty (limited).
