Now, this will be great for any Jeep owner who's not only looking for that added security but also want some small, easy, and affordable mods to add to their Wrangler to up the styling.Now this one, in particular, will be right up your alley if you're a fan of that branded Jeep logo and a more bold off-road styling compared to other simpler options. Now, as you can see here, this is going to offer that riveted border for more of that off-road appearance, and because this style is very common, it's going to mesh really well with your build and match with any other off-road accessories, especially any other branded ones that you already have in your Jeep.As well, again, also feature a lock-in key to make sure that you, or the key holder, is the only one able to access the fuel tank. Now what I do think I like most, is that you don't necessarily have to keep this locked all the time in order for it to stay shut. Thanks to the included magnets here. So you can choose when you want to keep it locked depending on your needs. Now, this is also going to feature a small little cutout over on this side for your finger just to help get in and out of the fuel door that much easier.Now, this will be built tough and remain at lightweight with an aluminum construction. Now on top, you can see that this is also going to have a texture black powder coat finish. And that's, of course, to offer that off-road appearance, but to protect the aluminum underneath from corrosion as well. And I do wanna call out that this is only for the fuel door. It doesn't come with the entire trim or replace the entire trim. So you do have to do some tiny modification with self-tapping screws to attach this.However, it's super easy and we'll show you that install in just a minute. Now, this will come in at about $150, which I would say is pretty average for a lockable fuel door. Now, I think what stands out most here is the bigger and more bubbled styling compared to other simplistic flat options and the lockable feature that it has, and, of course, the fact that you're getting Jeep stamped right on the front.Now others on the page may not be lockable and most will take that more simplistic approach when it comes to styling or remain one color, and then some more expensive choices may replace the entire trim itself instead of add onto it. Now, I think if you're a fan of the couple extra features that this has, and want an easy way to add a bit of security and a smaller, more noticeable style to the back end of the Jeep, then this is gonna be a great pick.Now, install for this again, is gonna be very straightforward. I'm giving it a 1/3-wrenches on the difficulty meter and it should only take you about 20 minutes to get the job done with some basic hand tools. Now, speaking on the install, one of our customers here has installed this on their Wrangler and he's gonna walk you through what that process looks like step by step. So that's gonna wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into it.Man: Hello. My wife and I recently acquired a very nice 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JK two-door, this will be her daily driver. But today's fuel prices we're concerned about security of the fuel. So, one of the first things we did was reach out to ExtremeTerrain and order their Officially Licensed Jeep Locking Fuel Door. Within the box is the actual fuel door. Very nice piece with the Jeep logo. We have four Phillips head screws and a pair of keys. And, of course, the instructions. The installation should be very simple requiring only a Phillips head screwdriver, a drill, and a 7/64 drill bit. So step one of the instructions is to remove the factory fuel cap from the vehicle.This will allow some extra room during installation. Position the locking fuel door over the plastic trim ring as shown in the instructions. Once centered, use the self-tapping screws to make four marks for drilling. So we'll move the gas cap and the associated lanyard, it should just pop out. So then we're gonna line this up. I think I wanna be particular about this, so I'm gonna add some masking tape and mark the body on the Jeep with the masking tape as well as the cover. But I think it's gonna help to have an extra set of hands when doing this.So first I'm gonna put some tape on here, on the body, and some tape on the fuel door. That way I get it nice and level where I want it. It looks pretty good. So now we'll take the self-tapping screws. In this case, I found a stubby screwdriver, it's probably gonna be easier to work around in here. Get those positions marked. Check our alignment again. Again, there's four screws, four mounting locations. Okay, now we're done with that. Check that we can see our marks, and then we'll move on to the drill.Now we're gonna take our drill with our 7/64 drill bit, we're gonna find our mark, and we're gonna drill a hole. Simple as that. And what I think I'm gonna do is go ahead and install the door with the screw and our short Phillips, stubby Phillips, and then check the alignment of the other holes. Your door looks good. Now, I'm gonna go ahead and punch a hole on this other side. That's what it takes. Everything's nice and solid, square. Now I'll do the upper ones. This is heavy.Install this screw, get it started, and the last one. The last one. Now, I'll go ahead and thread them all the way. That's stuck. There we go. Remove the tape, and there we have the fuel door. It's locked up and secured. So we have our locking fuel cap. We'll reinstall the lanyard for the cap itself. There we go. Now, one thing I've noticed that I really like on this, is that the door is magnetized.I did not realize that before, but it has a magnet. If you were to leave it unlocked, and the key does remove locked or unlocked. So, the final step would be to add the new key to the key chain. So overall, this is a very nice piece, a very nice quality, very nice fit finish. And it serves the purpose of our concerns of being able to lock the fuel and secure the fuel with a nice Jeep Logo Fuel Door.Merideth: So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and the install of this Officially Licensed Jeep Locking Fuel Door with the Printed Jeep Logo, fitting all 2007 to 2018 JK Wranglers.
