Hey, guys. I'm Eric from ExtremeTerrain. In this video, we're going to do a review and install of the Fishbone Offroad Front and Rear Tube Doors in Textured Black, for all 2018 and later Jeep Wrangler JLs.Now, this kit from Fishbone is really going to appeal to the Wrangler owners out there who are looking to maximize their open-air experience to get you that more safari-like feel while also maintaining some safety and security for all your passengers. Now, here at ExtremeTerrain, we do get a lot of positive feedback from our JL Wrangler customers about this kit, especially those with families. They really appreciate that added sense of security for their kids or any cargo that they might have riding in the back seat. Now you trail riders out there, you're also going to appreciate all the additional visibility and sightlines you get with this kid from Fishbone as well as having something to grab onto, or rest your elbow line as you're rolling over uneven terrain. Made from high-quality steel tubing and finished in a durable black powder coat with a textured finish, this kit comes with a 90-day manufacturer's back warranty. Now, this kit from Fishbone comes in right around $850, guys. I understand that probably puts it towards the top of the price range for these aftermarket open-air doors. However, after working with these today, I got to tell you the quality and the fit and finish is at the top of the market. And I think you'll find that little extra money you might be paying for these is going to be worth it down the road. I also got to tell you this. This kit came really well packaged and is easy to install as you'll see here in a couple of minutes. Now, speaking of the installation, guys, this gets a very easy one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. You should have no problem getting this job done in less than two hours using a couple of basic hand tools as well as the tools that come in your Jeep kit. With all that said, let's go ahead and do the installation. All right, guys. The tools we're going to use for this install include a socket wrench, a 4-millimeter Allen key, a 13-millimeter socket, as well as the tools included in your Jeep kit: the wrench, the T40 Torx bit, the T50 Torx bit, and a trim removal tool. All right. To get this installation started, guys, we're going to begin here at the driver's door. First thing we're going to need to do is disconnect the wiring harness for the door as well as the retention strap. And you might want to grab a trim removal tool. We're going to be removing a cover to expose the inner ends of both those things. All right. When you pull this cover off, guys, there's two retaining clips that are pointing in like this. Don't pull on it too hard. There's also, like, a little rubber strap that will prevent your cover from getting lost if it would pop off on its own. Ours happens to be broken on this Jeep, so I'm going to be able to pull this right off. This is what I was talking about here. Yours might still be attached in there. So don't pull on it too hard, otherwise, you might break it. And then we'll just disconnect this wiring harness. Now, you might have to pull the door in a little bit to relieve the tension on the strap here, giving you enough slack. That basically just slides up over top of this hook right here. All right. Next, we're going to take up these Torx bit bolts on the two-door hinges. I'm going to use the tool that's included with your Jeep kit. It's the Torx T50 bit, and you just undo it from below. I'm going to do the same on the bottom. Sometimes these are tight. Sometimes they are loose, but once you get it broke open, you can undo it with your fingers. And the last thing we're going to do before we get the door off, guys, is grab the longer T40 Torx bit out of your Jeep kit, and we're going to take out this bolt here. That releases this bar right here so you can pull the door off.All right. With all that disconnected, guys, just go ahead and reach in through your open window, grab the underside of your driver's door armrest and lift up. All right, guys. Now we're more or less going to repeat the same procedure we just did on the driver's door here for the passenger door to take this cover off. And, as you can see, this one is still attached to our little retention strap there. I'm just going to, kind of, tuck that out of the way. This is a pinch clip here. Disconnect the wiring, and that comes right off the hinge right there. And next, again with your T40 Torx bit, we're going to take out this bolt down here. Now we're going to move to the outside and remove the hinge pins. Okay. And again, with the T50, go ahead and loosen these up. All right. Go ahead and lift it off, guys. All right, guys. So I have the driver's side door right here. When we unboxed it, it already had two lock nuts attached to the hinge pins. Those are 13-millimeters. So we went ahead and removed those, and we're just going to go ahead and drop this into place. These were already greased up when we took them out of the box, but if yours does not come that way, you might want to throw this a little bit of grease on here to make the action nice and smooth. All right. Go ahead and start your nut on here by hand. All right, guys. While we have the door in this position, I wanted to point out a couple of things I think are pretty slick. First, Fishbone already sends this to you from the factory with this rubber bump stop already mounted, and this latch hardware right here is also mounted from the factory. And they're set a little loose. And this has a little play in it right here. That's so you can assure the proper fitment when you close the door. So what we're going to do right now is close the door, test it out, see where we're going to want this before we tighten these two hex head bolts down, and we'll be using a 4-millimeter Allen key to do that. All right, guys, go ahead and just close your door. As you can see already, it's pretty good fit. I'm just going to eyeball it right here and see where I'm going to have to tighten this down. But I think that really speaks to the quality of the product from Fishbone as far as how nicely that fits up. And I really haven't had to adjust anything yet. So let's open this back up and I'll tighten those bolts down. All right. Like I said, grab your 4-millimeter Allen key socket and a socket wrench, and we'll just tighten these up. And we'll test it out. All right. Go ahead and close your door. It's nice and firm there. That means we have it set properly, and all we have to do is reset our retention strap and that plastic cover piece, and then we can move on to the next door. Okay. Then just slide this retention strap back onto the post, and we'll pop the cover back on. All right. I got the rear passenger one here for the driver's side, and just like we did up front, we're going to drop it in place first. All right. You can go ahead and start your nuts. All right. Go ahead and close the door firmly so we can check the fitment. And then just like we did in the front door, we're going to go ahead and tighten these down. All right. Go ahead and grab your retention strap. Pinch it open a little bit there, slide it back on, and then replace the trim cover. As we often like to do here at ExtremeTerrain, we want to give you a good side-by-side comparison with your stock doors. Now, obviously, the differences are both obvious and huge between this Fishbone set and your factory doors. But what I really like about these and working with these in the install is the fit and finish is excellent. The textured black powder coat that's on here is nice. It gives you something to hold onto when you're opening up your top or riding, kind of, safari-style as they say. Really is a nice open-air feeling, but you still have that sense of security having these on there. I also got to say that the way they have the latch set up, hooked on there already, avoids a lot of fitment issues if you have to put that together yourself as you might get in a different kit. That's a nice touch from Fishbone as is the rubber bump stops being already mounted in there. These doors close firmly, and I think they're all around a really nice product. Not a whole lot more I can say. It's really obvious what you can see here. Plus when you're out on the trails, another thing that's nice is when you're doing some off-roading, it's nice to be able to see down low here if you're trying to avoid an obstacle or a tree stump that you might be getting close to. So that added visibility is a nice advantage when you're off-roading as well. So that said, all you need to do to finish the installation is to repeat these steps on the passenger side. All right, guys, that wraps up this review and installation of these Fishbone Offroad Front and Rear Tubular Steel Doors in Textured Black, for all 2018 and later Jeep Wrangler JLs. And, of course, for all things Jeep, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
