      Video Review & Installation

Ryan: These Barricade Quick Release Textured Black Rectangular Mirrors are for those of you that have a 2007 to 2018 JK that are looking for a way to be able to remove your doors and retain your mirrors so you're legal and you're safe while driving doorless. There are going to be a few different options out there for keeping the mirrors when your doors aren't on your Jeep. quick release is one of them that I personally really like. Now, this is gonna be a very easy installation, definitely a one out of three wrench install, and we'll talk more about that in just a second. So again, when you're removing those doors you're gonna have a couple different choices if you wanna retain your mirrors. One is going to be permanently moving your mirrors from the doors onto the A-pillar, like moving the factory mirrors. Now the downside to that is that the passenger side mirror can be a little bit difficult to see. Some of the manufacturers have made that bracket adjustable which helps out a little bit, but you're still most likely going to lose your power mirror and your power heater functions if your Jeep is equipped with those. So not always going to be the best choice. Another option is a drop-in mirror that will go right in the top door hinge when you have the door removed. However, that does require hardware and tools every time to install and uninstall that mirror, so if you take the door off, you install the mirror, including the tools, you then have to remove the mirror with those tools before you can put the door back on the Jeep. Now this option, the third option, is going to be the quick release option. So you're always going to have this bracket installed on the A-pillar, that lives there all the time, but then the arms attach onto the mirror, and you simply pop the mirrors into place using these thumbscrews. So there are no tools necessary, it's a very quick and easy process. And the only downside, if you want to call it that, is that you always have this bracket on the A-pillar. But for some of you, that's not going to matter, you're gonna really like the functionality of this so you can look past having that bracket on there. If you are looking for a set of quick release mirrors, I do like these ones from Rugged Ridge, these are gonna be a little bit less expensive than some of those premium options out there. If you want something that has a little bit of a higher quality of material used, maybe a little bit more fitted finish, we have those options for a few dollars more, but these are going to be a very fairly priced choice that are still gonna get the job done. So, like I said, this is a very simple option here. This is going to be a steel bracket, some steel arms, some powder coating. You're gonna have housing with the plastic mirror, just very bare-bones, simple, stripped-down, it just works. If you are looking for something that is made of aluminum, has a little bit more of that higher fit and finish to it, we have those choices for just a few dollars more and I would recommend taking a look at the Lange options.A pair of these mirrors from Rugged Ridge comes in at $70. I don't think that's a bad price for what you're getting. As I said, these are just very simple. They just get the job done, they just work. If you do wanna spend a little bit more, we have some premium options as well, but if you wanna save a couple of dollars, this is going to be a great mirror for you. Now, I'll have a member of the install team show you how you get these installed on your Jeep.Man: We're gonna begin the installation of our Rugged Ridge removable mirrors by removing our door. These mirrors were designed so when you remove your door you have a mirror replacement aside from the ones that came factory on your Jeep. So let's go ahead and get our door out of the way, and then we'll go ahead and get our mirrors installed.Okay, to remove our door is very simple, go ahead and open our door up. We're gonna reach in, unplug our door harness, take our safety strap off, and then we're gonna lift our door right up off the hinges.Next step on our installation, we're gonna remove the two T40 Torx bits that are the factory bolts that hold your window to your window hinge. Once we get those out, we can install our bracket in their place with the new supplied hardware. Just as a friendly reminder, you can go ahead and break those free with a ratchet first before using an electric impact gun, only because if you strip them out, they do become a pain to remove. Now let's go ahead and get our new mirrors installed. Now with our new bracket that comes in the kit, that should fit right over that using the new hardware supplied in the kit. Just line the holes up, start your new fastener into place. Before you tighten them down go ahead and get them both lined up. Then using the same T40, go ahead and buzz them down. We can go ahead and install our new mirror arm with the coupling, and then secure them both. Go ahead and take your new arm, slide it into the new coupling, slide the whole coupling into the support bracket and your new wing-nut bolt down through the top. Snug it down, it won't move. Now we move on to installing our mirror on the new arm.Simply remove the nut and lock washer from the back of your mirror, slide onto the new arm, the washer, and the lock nut. And now to tighten it up, using an 11-millimeter socket. Very simple and easy installation, you can just go ahead and repeat these steps for the opposite side. Now, when you go to put your doors back on, you just remove the wing-nut, slide your mirror out, and replace your wing-nut. Go ahead and store your mirror safely in your Jeep. This way, next time you gotta take your door off, they're ready to go right back on. Just simple, is remove your wing-nut, slide it right back into place, and tighten them down.I hope this video was informative enough for you.
