Hey, guys. So today, we're checking out the Smoked LED Tail Lights, fitting all 2016 and newer Toyota Tacomas. So if you've damaged a tail light, a bulb has burned out on you or if you're just looking for an overall upgrade to your factory tail lights, this option is gonna be a great choice to take a look into. These are gonna be a great choice if you're looking for a more custom look to the back end of your truck and even a blacked out look with this smoked lens. Now, these are going to be a big step up from your factory tail lights, considering that these are gonna have that LED technology with multiple LED functions inside the lens itself. Now, that smoked lens is not gonna take away from those bright LEDs. Those are going to be a lot more visible, making you more visible in your truck to other drivers out on the street. But it's also gonna give you more visibility at night when you are backing up.Now, this is going to incorporate some accent lighting as your daytime running lights. You're gonna have your turn signal up at the top, your brake light down at the bottom, multiple reflectors, and multiple LEDs in there for your backup lighting. Now, these are going to retain all of your factory functions, but on top of that, you're getting a lot of style as well. Now, these are also going to be a little bit more durable than your factory tail lights, ensuring that these are gonna hold up for a very long time while you're driving around on the street or even if you're taking your truck out on the trail. With all that being said, these are gonna be roughly $350, putting them at a pretty average price point as far as LED tail lights on the page are concerned. If we take a look at some other options on the page, you're usually gonna see other choices for tail lights set up a little bit differently than these. You may see some standard red reflectors or red lenses, you may see the clear ones or you're usually going to see more of a Euro-style light instead of something that is going to have a smoked housing and more of a aggressive look with this setup here. Now, my personal opinion, I think if you are looking for that smoked and sleek look, a blacked out type of lighting setup for your truck, while also incorporating some very bright LEDs in the meantime, then this is gonna be a great choice for you. Install is gonna be very easy as well at one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. Now, what I really like about these is the fact that there's no wiring involved. This is a completely plug and play setup, making it very easy to install. So you're gonna need some very basic hand tools and probably about 30 minutes' worth of your time. So, speaking of that install, let's jump into that now.Tools that I used for my install were an impact wrench, and a 10-millimeter deep socket. So our first step to this install is just to open up our tailgate so we can access the bolts that are holding on our taillight. So our next step is to take out the three bolts that are holding it in. We're gonna have two down at the bottom here and then one up at the top. You're gonna need a 10-millimeter socket and a ratchet. I'm just gonna use my impact wrench. After those bolts are removed, what we can do is tug on our tail light and remove it. I'm gonna twist down our bulbs. Then we can grab our new light. Next, we can pull out the bulbs. Just give those a good tug. We put those to the side. Make sure you're careful with those. And then our new tail light is going to be an LED obviously. However, we do have connections that are gonna take place of the actual bulb in the socket. So we can plug in the top. So you're gonna run two larger connectors and then two smaller ones. And the sockets are only gonna go in one way. We can go ahead and put this back into place, lining it up. There are a couple of studs that we have to line up. You want to make sure that the wires are in the actual compartment there and you're going to press. So once our tail light is in place, I would recommend to go ahead and test it out. But then we can go ahead and add our bolts. We're just reusing or factory ones. We can take that 10-millimeter socket, tighten those up.Before we hop into the rest of the install, I did want to stop down, tell you guys a little bit more about these new tail lights and what benefits that you're gonna get out of these in comparison to the factory setup. Now, right off the bat, you can tell that these are going to be completely different as far as the housing goes. And this is gonna be a big step up in lighting technology considering that this is gonna integrate LEDs and your factory ones are a halogen bulb or you're gonna have a couple of halogen bulbs in there. Now, the housing itself is going to be very different. You're getting a smoked lens here, that's going to give you a very sleek look to your truck and also switch it up, giving more of a custom and blacked out look. You're also getting some indentation in the lens which is gonna help out with more of a custom look in comparison to the standard plastic red lens that you have on your factory tails. Now, not to mention, again, you are getting an upgrade in lighting performance, considering that the LEDs are going to shine a lot brighter. And they're gonna be a lot more efficient than your factory halogen bulb. So you won't have to worry about changing out your bulbs, considering that these are going to last a very long time. And, again, they are gonna be a lot brighter. You're gonna have multiple LEDs in this setup in comparison just to the three bulbs that were in your factory light. So you're gonna have a couple of bar designs, multiple LEDs in each of these pods here, and then an LED strip in the middle for your backup light. So again, that is going to be considerably brighter, especially when you are backing up your truck at night. Now, what I really like about this setup is the fact that this is completely plug and play. There's no wiring involved as you guys just saw. So it is a direct fit in comparison to the factory light. So it makes it very easy as far as install goes. And you're also getting that custom look and better performance, or better lighting performance, on top of that. So, with that being said, let's finish up our install. We can just repeat that process on the other side. Now, I did notice when I was doing this before that they do have a specific side that they need to go into. You should be lining up the negative and the negative. Or having the correct grounds on the correct side is going to help the light operate. That's why, before, I just mentioned that you should be testing the light before you actually mount it back up just to make sure that everything is working properly. If, say, this light is not going to come on after you plug it in, all you have to do is just flip it over. Once they're back together, again, we can just pop this back in place, aligning the pins or the studs there. So, once you made sure that everything's working properly, what we can do is just, again, thread in our factory hardware. Make sure it's hand threaded. Then we can tighten those up with our 10-millimeter socket. Then we can just go ahead and close up our tailgate. And then you're all set to go.So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install.
