Merideth: Hey, guys. So today we're checking out the Smittybilt Billet Style Gas Cover in Textured black fitting all 2018 and newer JL Wranglers. So if you're looking for some small mods to give your Jeep a more aggressive look, this kit will be one to take a look at. The fuel door will add a custom feel to your Jeep over the plain Jane factory trim that's usually there, giving a more offroad look, especially with the Billet styling and that textured black finish. This will also have raised cutouts and Smittybilt right in the middle for some extra branded styling. This will be very durable, made of a CNC machined 6061 T6 build aluminum construction, with a flat black powder coat on top to prevent any corrosion on the aluminum underneath. And with the riveted accenting, this will create that aggressive look that I was mentioning before and will match with any other textured black accessories.To make sure that the fuel door remains shut, this will also have a magnetic closure feature and will have a little cutout for your finger, so when it's time to put gas in your Jeep, it's very easy to pop open. This will also completely replace the trim giving a really good fit, and avoiding any self-tapping screws like some other options sometimes come with. Now as a kit, this will come in right about the $100 mark putting this at a pretty average price point for an aluminum fuel door. Now when comparing it to other choices on the page, what I like about this choice is that not only is it affordable, but it's not gonna require any permanent modification or drilling into that factory trim like I mentioned. Not to mention, some other choices will have locking mechanisms, but if you don't necessarily need the extra security, you're just trying to spice up the styling of your JL with some small mods, then this is a great way to do it.Now, install will be a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you about 20 minutes to get the job done with the right tools. The tools that you'll need will include a flathead screwdriver, a T-40 Torx, and a ratchet from the JL toolkit that you have, and a set of Allen keys. Now, speaking of the install, one of our customers here has completed this on their Jeep and is gonna walk you through that step by step. Let's get into the install.Woman: Okay. So today we're gonna install the gas cover for the JLs and it's the Smittybilt. So all we're gonna need is just the stock Jeep tools. We're just gonna use these two pieces, and then we're gonna need a Flathead or any kind of flat plastic, and then an Allen wrench. So the first thing we're gonna do is we're gonna take off this plastic cover over here, and we're just gonna place the tip of the flathead right here to that little slot and just pull it up, and that comes up. So now we're gonna go ahead and use the tools that came with the Jeep, and we're gonna remove this bolt, which is attached to the taillight.Okay. Should come out. There you go, and that's what it looks like. So now when we go to the taillight, we can literally just pull it straight out, and then you can either unplug it, so you would pull here, and then pull those apart, or you can just rest it. I'm just gonna choose to rest it. I have a blanket here, so it doesn't scratch. And just gonna leave that there so it'll hang. So the next part is we're gonna remove the gas cover, or the gas cap right here so that we can install the new one. So on the inside, over here, there's gonna be four of these, which I can show on the new one. So we're gonna push these down on each side, and we're gonna start with the one closest to the taillight. So it's gonna be this bottom one, then here, and we'll work our way around. And as we push each one, we're gonna pull on the outside, so we can get it out. So I'm just gonna come over here, and I'm gonna start to... Oh, actually, first, we need to remove this. Okay. And now I'm gonna start to push out, and you do need a little bit of force because they're in there pretty securely.Okay. So there's one. I've got the top and then I can just pull. So now they're all out, and I'm just gonna pull it straight out. So here's the old one. Now I'm gonna install the new one, and we just want to align this piece with the hole right here, and then you're gonna have to push, so it can line up and you'll hear it snap on. There you are. So then the next step is we're just gonna snap this back up here. Okay. Might need a little bit of force with this one too. Might actually have to use a tool to get it in all the way. I'm gonna go ahead and tighten this in. And we're gonna bring the cover, we're gonna line it up, and then we're gonna screw it on, so I'm gonna go get the screws, see if that will do anything. All right. So there's one. Let's see. Gonna use the other end, screw it on. We're gonna do the same thing on these two. So we're gonna wind up. Screw it on. Same thing on the last one, screw it on, and there you are.So now what we're gonna do is we're gonna come back over here. And if you had disconnected your light, this is when you would wanna reconnect it. I just left mine in there. So what I'm just gonna do is I'm gonna align these back up over here and then just push it in, and we're gonna reattach the screw, so our light doesn't pop off. That's gonna go back in there. There we go. And you wanna be careful with it because the one that comes with the Jeep is plastic, so you don't wanna tighten it too hard and risk breaking it. All right. So I'm gonna leave it right there. We're gonna take this little cover again, and we're just gonna push down pretty hard and there you have it.
