Benefits of Aftermarket Jeep Doors

While an open air experience in your Jeep is ideal, there’s no reason not to do it safely. This is where aftermarket half doors come into play. With full doors being zero on the scale of off-road fun, half doors rang from a six to a nine. While styles vary, there are several constants in construction. Half doors are designed to brush off branches and other trail debris that could otherwise hurt you and your passengers. With mandrel bent steel and a solid powder coating, aftermarket half doors can take quite a number of light duty impacts. Powder coats are chip resistant and UV resistant, so as long as you’re not purposely running along the side of trees and bushes, you’ll get many years out of your chosen doors.

Types of Jeep Half Doors

The most basic types of half doors are tube doors. They are essentially a frame of the standard half door with a bar in the middle. This is the most open air you can get while still having a barrier between you and the trail. Some tube doors include mesh covers for added protection without sacrificing freedom. For a more custom look, some doors use flat steel plates reinforced by the usual tubes for a more aggressive appearance. Not a fan of tubes or steel plates? There are 90% mesh doors available. The hinge mount, the top, bottom, and opposite side are steel, but the entire middle of the door is akin to a cargo net.
